St. Patrick’s Day
Classrooms filled with rainbows, pots of gold, and coins awaited the arrival of children ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Each classroom had a party and learned about the holiday. Some of the activities teachers planned included sensory bin treasure hunts, face painting, photo booths, and rainbow marshmallow crafts.
World Down Syndrome Day
Each year on 3-21 people with Down syndrome along with their friends and families organize ways to raise awareness. This year, Newport Children’s Academy decided to spread awareness about Down syndrome by participating in a school wide walk. Children made signs and posters that they waved while walking around the neighborhood. During story time teachers also read books that helped children to better understand what it means to have Down syndrome.
Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt
The Easter Bunny visited NCA to say hi and take pictures with all of the kids. Some smiled with happiness to meet the Easter Bunny and others settled for a distant high five. We also had an Easter egg hunt in our new indoor play space! Everyone decorated their own bag and then went on the hunt to find eggs to fill their bags. After, classrooms held parties where children were able to play games and make Easter themed crafts.
