Halloween has always been a BIG DEAL here at Newport. We throw parties, invite parents, take family pictures in costumes. We even close the whole school early so everyone can get out and trick-or-treat. But 2020 is not a normal year, so we changed it up to make sure everyone could still give the holiday its due!
We couldn’t have parents attend the parties but we still shared games and treats in costume with our friends. Teachers and students enjoyed candy corn bowling, pumpkin tic-tac-toe and a ring toss with witch hats.
Since parents couldn’t come into the classrooms, we brought the party out to them! Newport students paraded up and down Newport Street while parents cheered and applauded from a safe distance.
