All children ages 3 and over will get their vision and hearing screened.  This is an important process because it catches any irregularities early so that future problems can be avoided!  Permission slips will be sent home.  If your child is unable to attend these days, please plan on getting the screened independently.  If your child wears glasses, please provide copy of their most-recent optometrist appointment.  We use the company Pupils Vision & Hearing Testing, Inc. every year and are very satisfied with their work.  They engage students where they’re at developmentally.  They also recognize when students aren’t feeling it and need to do it at another time.

For vision screenings, they ask students to read either letters or pictures on a board or match them to a sheet.  For hearing screenings, they place headphones on students and have them place a toy in a bucket or raise their hand to indicate when they hear sounds.  They will come back for a retest day for any students that did not pass, were not feeling the screening, or were absent or sick.
