This week has been all about dental health at Newport. It’s never too early to start learning about caring properly for our teeth, though of course it’s great when we can have fun doing it, too!
We started off our Dental Health unit with a visit from Dr. Yum of Yummy Dental. With the help of a very smiley crocodile, Dr. Yum taught us all about teeth and how to care for them, and even let the kids take turns brushing the croc’s teeth. By the end of Dr. Yum’s visit, the crocodile wasn’t the only one who was smiling. Thanks so much for visiting us, Dr. Yum!
Q: Why is it so important for us to brush our teeth?
“‘Cause we don’t want stinky teeth.” -Declan, three years old
“Because we want cute teeth.” -Nora, two years old
“Because when we have dirty stuff on our teeth, we need to brush them.” -Brady, three years old
“Because they get stinky.” -Maddie, three years old
Our Twos and Pre-K classes have gotten lots of practice brushing this week, and we hope it’s a practice that will stick with them from here on out. These kids have some amazing smiles, and we want to make sure they stay that way!
