The fall school year has officially begun at Newport, and our classes are bustling with energy and activity. We closed out the summer with a petting zoo, a magic show, and a field trip to the Adler Planetarium, all of which were unforgettable experiences for the Newport kids.
Adler Planetarium
On July 31st, the Threes and Pre-K classes visited Adler Planetarium, where they learned about stars and planets, explored the cosmos, and posed for pictures with the Chicago skyline.
Petting Zoo
On August 23rd, Newport’s park was visited by a traveling petting zoo. Under the watchful eye of the petting zoo staff, the children were able to pet and play with a bunny, a turtle, some ducks, a goat, and a pig, an experience that even the shyest children seemed to deeply enjoy.
Magic Show
For our last major event of the summer, Newport received a visit from the Amazing Tim Adamz, who put on a magic show for the Newport kids. The children laughed and cheered at the astounding magical feats, and were delighted to be given the chance to get up close and personal with Mr. Adamz’s rabbit assistant after the show had finished.
Back To School
On September 5th, after the Labor Day weekend holiday, the fall school year officially began. In honor of the first anniversary of the school’s opening in 2016, Newport hosted a Back To School Night party the following week, at which parents, teachers, children, and staff chatted, mingled, ate, and celebrated. Kids made frequent and active use of the park’s new slide, and a great deal of fun was had all around.
We’re so pleased to have completed our first year, and we can’t thank our Newport families enough for making it unforgettable. We can’t wait to see what our second year will bring!
